1750°C Max. Induction Melting-casting Furnace - IMCS-2000

IMCS-2000 is a versatile induction melting-casting system in a stainless steel vacuum chamber. It is capable of melt 1200 g steel at 1750ºC under vacuum or inert conditions.

Vacuum chamber

  • Stainless steel vacuum chamber ID Ø315 mm × 315 mm H
  • (Optional) Water-cooled SS chamber for prolonged melting time > 30 min
  • Ø120 mm quartz observation window. 
  • Built-in a rocker arm to rotate crucible for drop casting
  • DN160 ISO-K port for connection with a turbo pump
  • KF40/25 port for connection with a rough pump
  • 1/4" gas inlet
  • Bleed valve as gas outlet
  • Pressure safety relief valve @ 3 psig

Working Temperature

  • Standard chamber without water cooling
    • <1750°C
    • < 30 min heating time
  • Water-cooled SS chamber
    • < 2000°C for 70 ml Graphite crucible 1
    • < 1750°C for 250 ml Graphite crucible 2
    • Continuous heating with a KJ6300 water chiller
Crucible & Casting Mold
  • Two graphite crucibles are included
    • Graphite crucible 1: Ø47 OD × Ø35 ID × 88 H mm; working volume ~70 ml (up to 400g Fe alloy) 
    • Graphite crucible 2: Ø75 OD × Ø60 ID × 105 H mm; working volume ~250 ml (up to 1200g Fe alloy)
  • Optional liners for graphite crucible are also available.
    • BN crucible for graphite crucible 1: Ø34 OD × Ø28 ID × 80 H mm
    • BN crucible for graphite crucible 2: Ø58 OD × Ø50 ID × 100 H mm
    • Alumina crucible for graphite crucible2: Ø35 OD × 70 H mm
    • YSZ crucible also is available up request
  • Optional graphite casting molds:
    • Graphite Crucible 3: Ø60 OD x Ø45 ID x 80 H mm

Pressure Gauge

Induction Heating

  • 15KW (30-80Khz) Dual Station Bench Top Induction Heater with Timer Control & Temp Controller Port
  • One control panel to manually adjust the heating power output. 
  • Two induction coils are included.
    • Coil 1: Ø72 OD × Ø62 ID × 80 H mm;
    • Coil 2: Ø102 OD × Ø92 ID × 100 H mm
  • No temperature controller in the standard package. Melting status can be determined through the view port. 
     Gas Flow
    • One 0.2 - 2 L/min float flow meter is included. 

    Temperature control (Optional)

    • Power: 120 VAC, or 208-240 VAC, single phase, 30 W
    • PID temperature control
    • Working temperature: 1000 - 1750 °C
    • Type C thermocouple
    • Temperature accuracy: +/- 2°C
    Secondary Materials Feeder (Optional)
    • Hand-wheel type feeder to dose up to 3 volatile materials

    Mechanical Stirring (Optional)

    • Mechanical stirring is used to enhance the convection of secondary dosing materials. 
    • Power: 208-240 VAC, single phase, 200 W
    • Stirring rod materials: h-BN, graphite, or alumina
    Water Chiller (Optional)
    • Water cooling is required but not included.
    • MTI recommends KJ6200 water chiller or equivalent
    Vacuum Pump

    • Turbopump station 1, <1e-5 torr
      • 260 L/s Pfeiffer vacuum turbo pump
