1400ºC Max Vacuum and Atmosphere Controlled Microwave Crucible Furnace with Water-cooled SS Chamber - KSL-VMW-1400

KSL-VMW-1400 is a crucible microwave furnace in a stainless steel water-cooled chamber up to 1400ºC with two perpendicular microwave generators at the top and on the side. It comes with a programmable temperature controller to get a heating rate up to 50ºC/min and a temperature fluctuation of less than 2ºC for sintering air-sensitive materials under inert gas atmosphere

  • Water-cooled stainless steel (SS 304) vacuum chamber with front door and window for shielding microwave radiation and keeping thermal insulating material dry.

Working Temperature

  • ≤1400ºC continuous 
  • Heating Rate:
    • Heating rate: 0 ~50°C / min programmable
    • The heating rate gradually drops, especially at temperatures over 800°C

Heating Elements 

  • SiC foam is employed as a microwave susceptor for auxiliary heating
  • One 40 mm Dia x 40 mm H (36 ml)   Alumina crucible is included and inserted inside the SiC disk

Temperature Controller

  • Advanced SCR temperature controller
  • 30 segments programmable for heating, dwelling, and cooling. 
  • Autotune function; Over-temperature and thermocouple broken protection
  • Control accuracy ±1.0 ºC

Vaccum Chamber

  • The vacuum chamber is air-tight with a pass inlet and outlet port and valves
  • Microwave sintering can be operated with inert gases after vacuum.
  • Note: The microwave furnace can not be operated under vacuum directly at >500°C due to plasma formation.  For sintering at  > 500°C, inert gases must be backfilled to near ambient pressure
  • Vacuum can reach 10e-2 torr after well baking with an optional mechanical pump.

  • Note: The microwave is sensitive to moisture. Please always keep the chamber in a vacuum to keep thermal insulating material from moisture

Vacuum Pump

Application Note
  • Microwaves can easily generate plasma in a vacuum, which may damage the chamber sidewall sealing rings. It is REQUIRED to backfill inert gas to ambient pressure before use. Failure to do so will void the warranty.
